JODHPUR COTTAGE -
Built in approximately 1920 as guest quarters on One Acre Farm, the
Winter Colony estate of Joseph Harriman, President of the Baltimore and
Ohio Railroad, Jodhpur Cottage is located in one of the most desirable
neighborhoods in the Historic District. A short walk from Aiken's unique
downtown, it is also just around the corner from the sand roads and
training tracks of the Horse District.
While historic from the exterior, the interior is thoroughly up-to-date.
The aluminum siding was stripped from the outside and the original heart
pine siding was sanded and resorted. The newer portions have HardiPlank
clapboard siding. The windows were replaced with custom-made Andersen
solid wood, vinyl coated units. All walls and ceilings have been
thoroughly insulated, and in most rooms new drywall has been installed.
Both exterior and interior doors are new, including the mahogany front
door.
Step inside and you will find three large bedrooms, each with its own
brand new, full bathroom. The master bath is done in tumbled travertine
marble and features both a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Note the
walk-in closet in the master bedroom, not often a feature available in
cottages.
You will also discover a living room with a gas outlet in the fireplace.
There is a formal dining room and a large kitchen with custom-crafted
cabinets and stainless steel appliances. Solid granite countertops and
Velux skylights may make this your favorite room. The kitchen island has
room for stools for guests and informal meals.
Walk out the French doors in the kitchen to a private deck just right
for sunbathing or entertaining. The fully landscaped back garden
includes a sprinkler system and a completely rebuilt garden workshop.
Jodhpur Cottage is offered at $499,500 Contact owner/agent Lee
Hedlund.
